Since I have a perhaps irrational phobia of goombas.org turning into a traditional web log, it took me a while to work up the courage to post this item, since it's essentially just a collection of links.
However, it occurred to me that since all the links contain evidence that take me, step by step, towards my conclusion, then that makes it not blogging but research.
Step 0: according to Gamefaqs.com, GTA3 for the GBA is being ported by Destination Software, Inc.
Step 1: Beware, the following link will break your back button, so you might want to open it in a new tab/window. Destination Software's site sucks. As of this writing, it's nothing but a flash intro and a collection of MySQL error messages. This is somewhat discouraging, but I do not give up.
Step 2: Back on Gamefaqs, I find that Destination Software has also ported this game. From the genres, I'd guess that the two games in question are probably similar, so let's find out how Midnight Club: Street Racing looks.
Step 3: Google finds this video. I rejoice, for it is 2D!
Not only is it 2D, but the look is so similar to GTA and GTA2 that it's scary. In a heartwarming kind of way.
Of course, the reason they're taking so long to complete the port may be that completing their “fantastic” new 3D engine has taken a while.
Or maybe they've spent all this time looking for someone who can write them decent music.
