When I unplug my Oxygen8 and Windows bitches at me about a device being unplugged: mildly irritating.
When I plug it back in, and Windows requires me to dig through my stuff, find the driver disk, reinstall the drivers, and reboot the system: absolutely infuriating.
Was it so pissed when I failed to use the “Please, Windows, may I unplug my device?” icon it put in the systray that it uninstalled the drivers? Or did it just think I needed the extra 103 kilobytes that badly? What kind of moron does it take to design a system like this?
Also: if you put your documents in the “My Documents” folder, you're implicitly agreeing that Microsoft owns the rest of your computer. Just thought you'd like to know.

I don't know. I already feel kind of guilty for posting a new poll once; I'm kind of undermining the joke. If I put up links to the previous polls, that would undermine it even further.
(the joke being: it's called "poll of the day," but it's the same poll every day)
I only put up this new one because a friend and I were arguing about it, and I wanted to get some data. I don't even remember whose side the data supports, now :) |

Aww, you're missing out. There's little more satisfying than writing a rant about Java being a platform rather than being platform independent on the wall, or responding to someone's exhortation that "all fags will die!!" with "everyone dies some day." |

I am also having a hard time installing the drivers for Oxygen8. It says that the USB Device is Unknown. hmph. If you can help me at all, please e-mail me. Thanx. |

punkass.com is a real mail server? |

To Jen: Looks like punkass.com is owned by HotPOP, whose primary business seems to be selling email service. So, probably. Personally, I'm inclined to distrust that sort of service; I was a bit disillusioned when my anti-social.com address went dead.
To novokain: Win2K disappeared my Oxygen8 drivers again yesterday -- I think it's really starting to get pissed at me -- so I might be able to help you. But how about instead of mailing you, I post some advice here so that the whole world can take advantage of it rather than just you? That's the beauty of message boards, after all.
I don't recall ever encountering the "USB device is unknown" message, but my advice to you is to go through the motions of the driver installation anyways. The driver might, y'know, pass a note to, uh, whatever's giving you that error message. Look at me, I'm dancing around my technical ignorance of this subject like a layman pansy!
If you're like me, you spent fifteen minutes massaging google to give you decent, english language results for a search on the Oxygen8 drivers. In which case, my advice to you is to just give it up and go to Midiman's domain. Here's the driver selection page: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support.drivers
Er, I guess it's M-Audio's domain now. Huh. | |
