I believe that web logs should be updated at the bottom. This is the perfect example of why.
If you can't make sense of that, read the entry that follows it.
See, a joke works better when the setup comes before the punchline.
However, I'm not sure how to reconcile this belief with the fact that goombas.org is updated at the top, like every other web site in existence. I'm thinking about it.

because i'm really cheap, i actively can't change it because i use geocities, caring bridge, etc and can't choose my webtools without paying.... i guess it depends on what web tools you use, but on all my websites that have a web log, it is updated at the top. |

... is to provide a way for users to select the ordering that they prefer!
Of course, I won't hold my breath :-) |

Perhaps the way to get this kind of thing done is to open the source for the goombas.org web site, kind of like Slashdot did with Slashcode. Then, people who felt motivated could submit patches to you that implement wanted functionality! |

Nuh uh. I've probably got security holes coming out the wazoo, and I think security-through-obscurity does work, as long as people just don't care. I would guess that opening the source for a given nobody's home page is going to attract more people looking for random sites to exploit than people looking to do code reviews.
Also, my feelings at this point on the internal code quality of goombas.org are pretty far short of proud. | |
